Spring Mountain Biking in Utah: The Ultimate Trail Guide

Spring Mountain Biking in Utah: The Ultimate Trail Guide

Why Spring Is the Best Season for Utah Mountain Biking

Spring in Utah is a mountain biker's dream. Temperatures are mild, wildflowers line the trails, and the crowds of summer haven't arrived yet. From the red rock slickrock of Moab to the pine-scented singletrack above Salt Lake City, Utah offers world-class riding from March through May โ€” if you know where to go.

At Torq MTB, we ride these trails. Here's our guide to the best spring riding spots in the state.

Corner Canyon (Draper, UT)

Difficulty: Beginner to Advanced | Best Months: Marchโ€“May

Corner Canyon is one of the most accessible trail systems along the Wasatch Front. With over 50 miles of trail, it has something for every skill level โ€” from flowy green runs to technical black diamond descents. Spring conditions here are excellent, with the lower trails drying out fast after winter.

Don't miss: Ghost Falls, Rush Trail, and the Jacob's Ladder climb.

Bobsled Trail (Salt Lake City, UT)

Difficulty: Intermediate | Best Months: Aprilโ€“June

Bobsled is a Salt Lake classic โ€” a fast, flowy descent with just enough tech to keep things interesting. Spring brings lush green hillsides and cooler temps that make the climb worth every pedal stroke.

Elephant Descent (Bountiful, UT)

Difficulty: Intermediate | Best Months: Mayโ€“July

If you want to earn your turns, Elephant Descent delivers. This trail rewards riders who've put in the work with an amazing descent that includes fast berms, a great gaps and sweet table. Spring conditions can be variable โ€” check trail reports before heading out โ€” but when it's on, it's one of the best descents along the Wasatch.

Moab Slickrock Trail (Moab, UT)

Difficulty: Advanced | Best Months: Marchโ€“April

No Utah trail guide is complete without Moab. The Slickrock Trail is iconic for a reason โ€” 10+ miles of grippy sandstone that demands technical skill and rewards with jaw-dropping views. Spring is the ideal time to visit before the desert heat sets in. Bring extra water and sun protection.

Porcupine Rim (Moab, UT)

Difficulty: Advanced | Best Months: Marchโ€“May

Porcupine Rim is one of the most celebrated descents in the American Southwest. Starting above the canyon rim and dropping into the Colorado River corridor, this trail combines singletrack, exposure, and scenery that will leave you speechless. Spring is prime time โ€” cool temps and firm trail conditions make for an unforgettable ride.
